Forest Nursery Program
Seajoy began its nursery program in Nicaragua and Honduras in 2003 through its companies, establishing a firm commitment to environmental regeneration. Since then, the project has planted nearly 180,000 forest plants, also benefiting local schools through the "Adopt a Tree with Seajoy" campaign, which promotes education and ecological awareness among new generations.
In Honduras, our forest nursery currently operates under the motto "Nurseries that transform spaces into green lungs." The nurseries operated by the Seajoy Cooke group are located at the Camaron Deli Honduras shrimp packing plant and at the Pacific Larviculture Laboratory – LARVIPAC, supporting communities, villages, and schools in southern Honduras in coordination with government entities, teachers, community organizations, and local residents. These actions are aimed at reforesting areas affected by forest fires, recovering arid zones in educational institutions, and maintaining green areas in neighborhoods and streets, thus extending our commitment to the environment and consolidating Seajoy's vision as an active agent in the regeneration of ecosystems.
Carbon Footprint
At SEAJOY COOKE, we are an environmentally responsible company that recognizes the potential impacts our production and operations can have on the environment. Therefore, we have taken on the challenge of measuring, managing, and reducing our carbon footprint by implementing comprehensive practices that go beyond government regulations.
We began measuring greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions at our Deli Honduras shrimp packing plant in 2021, and in 2022, we expanded this measurement to include our group's farms and hatchery.
